Jakarta is fast-tracking flood mitigation for the Cakung Lama and Ciliwung rivers as heavy rains continue to hit the capital.
Our concentration is now laser-focused on restoring the Cakung Lama and Ciliwung rivers
Governor Pramono Anung stated Friday (1/30) that because the Krukut River was not affected by recent floods, the city is clearing the way to focus entirely on these two critical projects.
"Our concentration is now laser-focused on restoring the Cakung Lama and Ciliwung rivers immediately," he said.

According to Pramono, the Ministry of Public Works will handle the Ciliwung River embankments, while the Jakarta Provincial Government will oversee the Cakung Lama restoration project.
The budget for the Cakung Lama project—including restoration and land acquisition—is estimated at Rp 132 billion (approx. $8.4 million).
"This will be a top priority within our medium-term flood management strategy," he stated.
